The A3500 offers two extra presets, and touch controls, with a dedicated icon for each blending mode.

The Vitamix A2500 & A3500 unlocks extra Preset programs & recipes with its Blending APP on your phone or tablet.
While both models have a visible timer, only the A3500 has a programmable count-down timer that shuts off the blender when done. The A2500 is about $100 cheaper than the A3500. If you don’t need the extra presets, and/or prefer more manual controls, then the A2500 might be the better choice. If however you want the extra presets right on the blender, and a touch control system with icons, then the A3500 would be your choice.
Self detect technology: The base of blender is able to detect the size of the container attached and automatically adjust program settings and blending times automatically. This feature is installed on both models.
